Does the portrayal of the female martial artist on television bear any influence on a woman's decision to start training, in the same way that images of screen stars like Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris may influence a man?

To quote Tony Somers from his article in our May 2009 issue "What is happening in the world of martial arts? Rising Stars

In the April 2009 edition of Martial Arts Illustrated we launched Rising Stars, a joint venture between MAI and MartialEdge.net to find the next star of martial arts.
